Brent School Streets

The new Brent School Street initiative, School Streets, will start outside Malorees and QPCS schools from Monday 2nd November.

Please note that parents/carers will not be able to  drive onto the roads directly outside either school between 8.15-9.15am and between 2.30-4pm from Monday to Friday.

There is a lot of responsibility on the school to manage the barriers and this initiative overall.

If we are to make a success of it we will need your support and co -operation to make sure this scheme works effectively for our whole school community, leading to a positive impact for everyone.

It will be subject to regular review and monitoring with Brent officers, and the views of staff, parents and children will be considered.

Both schools were informed of the starting date a few days ago and we have agreed to work jointly on this to monitor the implementation of  the School Streets scheme.

Many of you were aware this scheme was going to be in place very soon.

Therefore, we wanted to inform you so you have a chance to reconsider your journey to school if you travel by car.

Brent Council, with TfL, are extending School Streets across Brent.

School Streets involve temporarily prohibiting access to one or more roads surrounding a school to most vehicles at the start and end of the school day.

Christchurch Ave is one of the roads already marked as a School Street and we urge parents and carers to please respect the road signs and if they must travel to school to park on adjacent roads in parking bays.

This will add to quality of air as well as child safety near the school.

Attached is a leaflet giving more information about the scheme.
