Malorees School

World Champion Brownlee brothers inspire Malorees children

Thank you to World Champion triathletes, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, and their marvellous Brownlee Foundation for such an exciting and inspiring mini-triathlon experience this morning.

Sixty-nine Malorees children joined over a thousand Brent children of all sporting abilities at Willesden Sports Centre.

The event was fun, non-competitive and inclusive with the children, from Year 3-6 classes, swimming 50m, cycling 800m on grass and running 300m.

A fantastic time was had by all the children, who were afterwards treated to event t-shirts and autographs.

Mr Cleary, PE Lead, gave special thanks to the Foundation team for allowing so many Malorees children to take part – an increase of 15 children from the same event last year.

The Brownlee Foundation events have been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. They attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport.

The Brownlee Foundation events are free for primary schools and are aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils enabling them to try something new and have fun being active in sport.

Our school PSFA will be working with the Foundation to further encourage our children to build on the experience of today and also help ensure the Foundation  can continue to put on more successful events for schools in the area.

If you would like to help with this or get more information on more sporting opportunities for your child please speak to Mr Cleary or email maloreesjuniorpsfa@gmail.com.
