Hello Year One, We hope that you are managing to enjoy doing some of the learning tasks that we have set. Please get in touch if you are finding anything tricky and we will do our best to help you. We have put some nice weather activities for you to get started on, as well as the Maths and English activities that you are becoming familiar with. Reading |
Read for 20 minutes each day. Use stories you have at home or find new books to read at. Oxford Owl E-book Library
Read to your child daily Read the real books you have at home, or read (free) online books on the BookTrust website. You can listen along with your child or click the “mute” button and read the book to your child yourself (which we highly recommend!). Book Trust

Writing Tasks |
This week, work through the writing activities for the book Beegu. You can read the story online. Read Beegu online
Day 1 - Speech bubbles What would Beegu say to another alien? Fill in the speech bubbles. Beegu Speech Bubbles Beegu - Word Mat to support writing
Day 2 - Write (and Draw ) a postcard to / from Beegu Remember - Write your message on the left – what do you want to say and ask? - Write the address on the right - Draw or make a stamp to put on the top right corner
Day 3 - Write a letter Talk about how the teacher treats Beegu (she is not kind like Malorees teachers!!) Think about what reasons you could give to her to let Beegu stay. Read an example of a letter here
Day 4 - Read the recipe to make some Star Biscuits
Day 5 - Look for other stories with aliens and space creatures Compare the stories to Beegu. What is similar / different? - Make or draw a rocket ship with lego / boxes etc |
