Reading for everyone

Daily reading is the most important part of home learning, for all our pupils. Please make sure your child is reading for at least 20-30 minutes every day, and logging this in their Reading Journal. They need to bring their Journal into school daily for the class teacher to monitor home reading.

Home Learning for Year 1 and Year 2

As well as their home reading, children in Key Stage 1 are given paper homework every Friday, to be finished by the following Tuesday in their homework books.

Homework will consist mainly of literacy, maths and sometimes topic project work.

Home Learning for Year 3 to Year 6

Key Stage 2 children are also expected to read at home every day, and to use their Reading Journals. They are also set online homework every Friday, to be completed by the following Tuesday, using:

Google Classroom: classroom.google.com

Mathletics: login.mathletics.com

Times Tables Rock Stars: play.ttrockstars.com

There also free Apple and Android apps available for all these platforms. Setup advice is available here, and we also have Acceptable Use Policies for parents and children, If you would like a weekly email Google Classroom Guardian Summary of your child’s tasks and activities, please send an email with their name to admin@maloreesjnr.brent.sch.uk
